EOS Hard Fork to Introduce a New Consensus Mechanism.

The EOS Network is scheduled to have a hard fork of its proprietary Blockchain software Antelope on september 25th.  A new consensus mechanism called Savanna (Scalable Agreement on Validated Additions with Nimble Non-repudiating Attestation) will be introduced with a new released Spring 1.0. It’s designed to bring instant finality, enhance scalability and strengthen the security of the network; bringing web2 experience to the web3 space.

Spring 1.0 has been released and under Savanna Consensus, the EOS community will have the option to split Block Producer responsibilities into two distinct functions: Block Proposers and Block Finalizers. These two distinct roles are designed to offer the community a new path towards a more decentralized, secure, and efficiently governed network.

Upgrade Zoom calls for node operators are hosted by the EOS Network Foundation every Wednesday at 9am EDT / 1pm UTC. Infrastructure providers should also note these important dates:

  • Stable Release: September 4, 2024

  • Recommended Upgrade Period: September 5-24, 2024.

All node operators are called to prepare for the upcoming hard fork. Not upgrading node infrastructure to Spring 1.0 will result in falling out of sync from the network.
