Mysten Lab introduces Walrus, a decentralized storage network powered by Sui.

Mysten Lab, the main contributor to Sui Blockchain has developed and introduced Walrus, a decentralized storage network that uses Sui for coordination and offers two main benefits: Cost-Effective Storage & High Availability.

With Walrus you can store, read, and certify the availability of large amounts of MiB (Computer storage unit measurement) on a network of distributed storage nodes. This allows media files like images, game assets, web apps, AI models and dApps front-ends to be stored and served as Walrus Sites, making them truly decentralized websites (See a sample of a Walrus Site).

Walrus is secured by Sui, a horizontally scalable Byzantine fault-tolerant (BFT) and Delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) consensus blockchain. With Walrus, data is sharded and efficiently replicated across Walrus nodes globally. A public Walrus devnet is now available to all developers for preview and comments.
